1. DRIVER IN THE HIGHEST GEAR POSSIBLE
Select 3rd gear at 30 km/h - early gearshifts help to save fuel. Driving at low revs is bad for the engine? A popular myth. TDI and TSI engines love running in third gear at 30 km/h - they deliver astonishing pulling power from as low as 2,000 rpm. When starting off, engage second gear once the vehicle has moved through its own length. And feel free to skip a gear when changing up. Always select the highest gear possible when cruising along in traffic. As long as your car runs smoothly and acoustic comfort is maintained, the engine speed is not too low.

2. TAKE IT EASY AND SAVE
Drive calmly and smoothly. Apply the brakes less, cruise along with traffic and let your vehicle roll. You will consume less fuel and your journey will be safer and more relaxed.

3. JUST LET IT ROLL
Coasting in gear activates overrun fuel cutoff, so you won't use a single drop of fuel on a downhill gradient or when approaching a red traffic light. You benefit from the braking effect of the engine and save fuel.

4. USE AUXILIARY EQUIPMENT IN MODERATION.
Auxiliary equipment makes driving more comfortable, but if used excessively - more expensive, too. An air conditioning system, for example, consumes fuel. Yet you can reduce the temperature (and fuel consumption) by airing the vehicle before your journey and driving off with the windows open for a short time to let the heat escape.
